The SMD LED is a very small and light weigh chip enclosed in epoxy resin.
These provide extreme brightness while maintaining low energy consumption when compared to other type of bulbs (eg. incandescent).
Generally the voltage needs per SMD LED is approx 2 – 3.6V * , 0.02A-0.03A. It therefore has very low voltage and amperage needs.
Compared to incandescent bulbs, energy consumption is at 1/8th. In perfect conditions it’s life expectancy might reach as many as 100,000 hrs.
Most popular SMDs, are product no.s 3528 and 5050.
SMD 3528 is a single light emitting package (chip), while SMD 5050 is inside a 3 light emitting package.
The 3528 is so called to describe the dimensions of the chip (35x28mm), while it’s consumption is approximately 12V * 0.08W / chip.
Contrary, SMD 5050 dimensions are 50x50mm, and its energy consumption is 12V * 0.24W / chip.
In theory the 5050 SMD is 3 times brighter than 3528.
* Note: while we say 12V, yet we described above that it is 2-3,6V per SMD.
Thus in an SMD LED tape we cannot power-up less than 3 SMDs (4x3smd=12V)

The SMDs used by UNIKE are from international famous brands Lumileds, CREE, Osram with stable quality, reliability and performance. At present, Lumileds 2835SMD, 3030SMD and 5050SMD are mainly used. The color temperature is 3000K/4000K/5000K/5700K/6500K available, and the CRI is optional 70/80/90Ra. The luminous efficiency of the whole lamp has achieved 170lm/Watt high luminous efficiency.
