1. What is IP (protection level)
The IP(intermational Protection) protection rating system was drafted by lEC (the International Electro Technical Commission).The luminaire is classified according to its characteristics of dustproof, foreign object intrusion prevention, water resistance and moisture resistance. The foreign objects referred to here include tools, human fingers, etc., should not touch the live part of the lamp to avoid electric shock.
2.P protection grade composition:
The IP protection level is composed of two numbers,
The first number indicates the level of dustproof and foreign object intrusion prevention (contact protection, foreign object protection level);
The second number indicates the degree of tightness of the lamp against moisture and waterproof intrusion (waterproof protection level);
The larger the number, the higher the protection level, the protection level represented by the two marked numbers.
3. The first marked number:
IP0-: No protection 0;
Having no special protection against external persons or objects.
IP1-: prevent the invasion of solid objects greater than 50mm;
Prevent the human body (such as the palm) from accidentally coming into contact with the parts inside the lamp. Prevent the intrusion of foreign objects of larger size (diameter greater than 50mm).
IP2-: prevent the invasion of solid objects larger than 12mm;
Prevent human fingers from touching the parts inside the lamp. Prevent the intrusion of medium size (diameter greater than 12mm, length greater than 80mm).
IP3- Prevent the invasion of solid objects larger than 2.5mm;
Prevent tools, wires or similar small foreign objects with a diameter or thickness greater than 2.5mm from invading and contacting the internal parts of the lamp.
IP4- Prevent the invasion of solid objects larger than 1.0mm;
Prevent tools, wires or similar small foreign objects with a diameter or thickness greater than 1.0mm from invading and contacting the internal parts of the lamp.
IP5- Dust proof;
Completely protected against foreign invasion. Although the ash can not be completely prevented from invading, the amount of invading dust will not affect the normal operation of the lamp.
IP6- Dust tight;
Completely prevent the invasion of foreign objects, and can completely prevent the invasion of dust.
4. The second number represents the level of protection
The second indicates the level of protection referred to in the feature number (number)
IP-0 Unprotected:
Having no special protection against external persons or objects.
IP_1 prevents water intrusion;
Vertical drops of water (such as condensed water) will not cause harmful effects on the lamp.
IP-2 tilt 15° can still prevent water intrusion;
When the lamp is tilted from vertical to 15°, dripping water will not cause harmful effects on the lamp.
IP-3 prevents the intrusion of sprayed water;
Prevent rain or prevent water sprayed in the direction of vertical Angle less than 60° from entering the lamp and causing damage.
IP-4 prevents splashing water intrusion;
Prevent splashing water in all directions from entering the lamp and causing damage.
IP-5 prevents the intrusion of sprayed water;
Prevent water from all directions from the nozzle to enter the lamp and cause damage.
IP-6 prevents the intrusion of large waves;
Lamps installed on the deck to prevent damage caused by flooding due to the invasion of large waves.
IP-7 prevents water intrusion when submerged;
The lamp is immersed in water for a certain time or the water pressure is below a certain standard to ensure that no damage is caused by water
IP-8 prevents water intrusion during sinking;
The lamp is sunk indefinitely under the condition of specified water pressure, which can ensure that no damage is caused by water.
